Cape Pink

R95.00

375 ml

Winemaker’s Notes:

The grapes at 23.6 degrees B, were picked early in the morning and stored overnight in a cold room. They were de-stemmed and crushed the next morning and to achieve the light pink colour, the free run juices drawn off the skins after only a few hours of cold maceration. The two cultivars were fermented separately. After approximately seven days of cold fermentation, when the desired alcohol was achieved, unaged spirits were added to stop the fermentation. After a month, the two wines were mixed and matured in stainless steel tanks until bottling.

Tasting Notes:

A fortified wine with a flush of pink and flavours of strawberries and red plums in a well-balanced smooth offering. This wine could be served over crushed ice as refreshing drink on a summer’s day, or as a dessert wine after a meal.

The winemaking processes are similar to that of a white wine, and it captures the rich fruit flavours of a port style wine without the stringent flavours of its red counterpart.
